I asked them to lower the price by a grand and the guy’s response was what do I got to do to sell you this car? I said I need to think about. I have some other cars in mind but different color. Would it put me in a bad spot to ask him if he can lower it buy another grand?

Depends on how much the car is in the first place. A grand off a £3000 car is unlikely. £1000 off a 20 grand car, quite possible and maybe worth asking for more discount.
