Buying a car can be fun or can be extremely stressful

Buying a car can be fun or can be extremely stressful. So with this post we are going to make it educational in telling you What NOT to say when purchasing a vehicle.

10. “I’m trying to keep my monthly payments down.” – Before you walk into the dealer, know the maximum you are willing to spend over the life of your loan. By stretching the term by a year or two, a dealership can easily bring a $400 monthly payment down to a $300 payment, but you could end up paying thousands more in interest.

9. “Honey, what do you think?” – Dealers love indecisive couple’s, they will go as far as playing a husband and wife against each other. NEVER SHOW EMOTION.

8. “I have a car to trade in; how does that affect the deal?” – don’t discuss a trade till you have settled on a sale price. Make sure that you do your research on the trade in value of your car before going to a car lot.

7. “Let’s talk financing!” – Settle on the sale price first before bringing this up. Don’t let the rate of the loan influence you on the price of the car.

6. “Here’s how much I have to spend.” – a sales person is willing to deal but if you instantly tell him how much you have it will be increasingly difficult to get a good deal.

5. “What kind of extended warranties do you have?” – Extended warranties are like insurance, so treat them like insurance. Shop around to third parties and closely compare the terms with what you might get from the dealer.

4. “I need this car now.” – Your biggest leverage is being able to walk away. The salesman wants you to need the car so he can make more money off of you.

3. “I think my credit’s good.” – know your credit score, don’t guess. If you walk into the dealership with your credit report they cant back you into any unfavorable terms.

2. “It looks like it’s been kept pretty well.” – if you are buying a used car looks alone wont tell you it works well. Before you sign pay a licensed mechanic to inspect it.

1. “I guess all these fees are pretty standard, huh?” – There are fees which are a must “sales tax, registration and delivery and then there are fees that you don’t have to pay for which are “Dealer Prep” ask to have that removed and if It doesn’t tell him you are going to shop around. Dealer Prep is the sales person cleaning up the car a little bit and taking stickers off.

The facts above are 100% true thanks to MSN for really explaining. Please take the above seriously and good luck with your next auto purchase.

Question by Michael L: Do I need to buy car insurance before driving a used car that I purchase home?
I am thinking about buying a car. I won’t know if I’m buying this used car until I go look at it. How do I drive it home, if I won’t have car insurance at the moment that I buy it?
Is just seems sort of crazy to buy car insurance before I actually own a car.

Car dealer vs private sellers vs car auctions?

Question by cara: Car dealer vs private sellers vs car auctions?
Which is the best option to buy a second hand car? I’m after a VW Golf 2000 or later with a full service history, low mileage, very good condition etc. What are the main things to look out for with dealers and priv sellers? Are they a lot cheaper at auctions? Do you get to check the car before committing to buy at an auction? Any advice would be appreciated – thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Stupid Flanders
Going to an honest dealer is going to be your best bet, but it will also probably be the most expensive.

If you decide to buy from a private party or an auction, make sure you have an independent mechanic check out the vehicle before you buy it. It will probably cost you $ 70-$ 80, but that is a drop in the bucket if it keeps you from buying an unreliable vehicle.

At an auction, you can check a car before the auction starts. Typically, the inspection period is an hour before the actual auction begins. The only way I would recommend buying from an auction is if you can take a mechanic with you.

Note regarding auctions – not all auctions are public auctions where you can just go buy a car. While these do exist, many auctions require a dealer license to purchase a vehicle. Some even require a deposit upfront, which you will get back at the end if you do not purchase anything.

Wholesale Car Prices

However, if one is smart and alert, one can become the proud owner of a car bought at a wholesale, or near wholesale price, be it a pre-owned car or a brand new one. There are a few places where you can get cars at wholesale prices.

One place where there is strong possibility of being able to get cars at wholesale price is at an car auction. The government conducts auctions of vehicles from its various departments like Defense, Housing and Urban development, FBI, IRS, postal services, and other departments. One can expect to get a car at a great price at these government auctions.

There are different types of public car auctions that keep happening all over America. Many of these auctions are limited to dealers who have licenses and are open for everybody. These auctions are for cars that have been repossessed by banks and financial and lending institutions. Cars can often be bought at a wholesale price here.

There are many bankruptcy auctions where one can get cars at low rates. The classified advertisements in newspapers carry information about these auctions, whenever they happen.

Car rental companies all across America continue to buy new cars to renew their stock. What this means is that they sell their older cars at auctions. At such a place you can find a wonderful bargain for your vehicle. One can check out these companies by calling them up and or reaching them through their Web sites.

Many vehicle dealers have their own auctions where one can get a great car at an extremely low price, often below wholesale price. But only those that are registered as dealers have the right to bid at such auctions. There are also auctions held by dealers that are open to anybody in general.

The Internet has become a great place to find quality cars at affordable wholesale prices. However, despite the convenience, comfort and speed of locating a car of one’s choice, there can still doubt regarding the authenticity of the person selling the car. Besides, when a car is being purchased through the Internet, one would also have to educate oneself about the laws relevant in one’s state of residence, since many a time cars are traded interstate.

Buying a car at wholesale price is not an impossibility. Take the time to window shop and do homework; you will be able to achieve the dream of owning your own car.

Cars for Sale, Cheap Cars for Sale:

Who in their right mind would not like to buy a good used car for a very low price? Not many of us, that’s for sure. Most people love getting good deals and there are few products that many seem more obsessed about getting good deals on than cars.

While it’s possible to get a good deal on a new car, it is in the arena of pre-owned or used cars where it is possible to get some really good deals on cheap cars. And there are several ways to buy a cheap used car.

One can look through the local newspaper in order to find cheap cars for sale within the area where you live. While the selection of cheap used cars for sale listed in local newspapers is often very limited, great deals can sometimes be found, especially if you find a seller who is either lazy or does not know the value of the car they are selling.

A second way of buying a cheap car is through a used car dealership. Often used car dealerships have limited selection in the way of cars you can buy from them. Also, used car dealerships may sell the cars they have for sale at higher prices than what you could find if you buy a car from a private seller who advertises in the newspaper. However, many used car lots and used car dealerships do thoroughly examine the cars they sell. Now here is an opportunity for you to buy good condition cars at extremely low prices. Join now and get great deals on Cars for Sale / Cheap Cars for Sale.

Buying a used car from a dealership?

Question by abercrombiedude18: Buying a used car from a dealership?
I asked them to lower the price by a grand and the guy’s response was what do I got to do to sell you this car? I said I need to think about. I have some other cars in mind but different color. Would it put me in a bad spot to ask him if he can lower it buy another grand?

Best answer:

Answer by yomper
Depends on how much the car is in the first place. A grand off a £3000 car is unlikely. £1000 off a 20 grand car, quite possible and maybe worth asking for more discount.

Top 10 Questions to Ask a Used Car Seller Before You Buy

Posted by admin | Posted in Car Sellers | Posted on 16-10-2011-05-2008

You’re looking for a new car and you’ve decided to buy used. Smart choice! With the price of gas and the state of the economy, shelling out all that extra cash for a brand new car when a used car can be just as fuel efficient and a much better deal is like tossing your cash into your car’s fuel tank and literally burning that money away.

Craigslist, eBay, car classifieds, and used car search engines like iSeeCars.com make finding used cars for sale so much easier than ever before. But you have to be careful—there’s bound to be a few lemons out there that will leave you with more than just a sour taste in your mouth. Making a major purchase like a car—even if, or perhaps especially if, it’s a cheap used car—requires that you do all of your homework. Remain in control and no one will be able to pull the wool over your eyes!

Here are the top ten questions you should ask a used car seller before you sign on the dotted line:

Can you tell me why you’re selling this car? Used car dealerships might not know (but they may know why the last owner sold it to them), but all private sellers you might find through Craigslist, eBay, or car classifieds ought to answer. If possible, watch their facial expressions when they answer, too, in case they’re not being entirely truthful. If they’re moving or can no longer afford payments for the car, the car is more likely to be of higher quality. If it’s because it’s very old or has required many repairs, make sure you know if the price is fair and understand what you’re getting into.

What is the car’s mileage? Car mileage plays a large part in determining the used car’s value. And remember that used car odometers can be tampered with, which is why you should ask…

Will you allow a test drive? Any used car dealership should have no problem letting you test drive their used cars for sale around town. Private sellers might be more reticent, but assure them you’ll allow them to accompany you on the trip. Test drives are essential for noticing problems with the car as well as for making sure that the car is the right fit for you. You’ll also be able to notice if the odometer appears to be “stuck” or has problems.

Will you allow me to make my own inspection? If they’re reputable, both used car dealers and private sellers should have no problem with you bringing the car to a trusted mechanic for a thorough inspection.

Is there a warranty on the car? If you’re buying from a used car dealership, go for the certified used cars. A lot of used car dealerships offer 112-point inspections and two-year/20,000 miles+ warranties on low- to average-mileage used cars. Some used cars for sale may come with existing factory warranties. When buying from a used car for sale by owner, unless there’s an existing factory warranty, the car is typically sold as-is.

Has this car ever been refurbished or been in an accident? If the used BMW car that’s caught your eye was once in an accident, there might be more damage underneath that freshly-painted coat than meets the eye.

What is the vehicle’s history? Certified used cars and other used cars for sale at used car dealerships ought to come with vehicle history reports. (Oftentimes these are even available when you search for used cars online.) Used cars for sale by owner might have official vehicle history reports, but if they don’t, you should be able to purchase them online at sites like Carfax or Autocheck using the VIN# of the car.

Are you the original owner of this car? If you want quality, it’s best to choose used cars for sale by the original owner—unless each owner of the car used it for a short period of time. This actually isn’t a moot question for a used car dealer, either; it’s possible that car was for sale just a few years ago as a brand-new car and never got off the lot.

What are the car’s special features? If CD player, navigation or GPS system, leather seats, or anything else that’s “extra” is important to you, ask if they’re available in the used car that you’re considering—and if they’re still in good, working condition.

Do you have service or maintenance records for the car? If the owner has kept good records and has followed the manufacturer’s suggestions for scheduled maintenance like changing oil every so many miles, that would be a good indication of how well the car was taken care of.

Jonathan T Andrews likes to buy used cars and thinks it’s much better than buying new and while doing so, helped come up with the idea of a used car search engine, iSeeCars.com, that makes it easier and faster to find used cars for sale across thousands of websites.

Question by Alice: car shopping?
I really would like to buy a black car.
If you have a black car can you please tell me if you are happy, I hear black paint is hard to maintain and that it streaks easly.
is this true?
thank you for ur answers!!

Best answer:

Answer by mccoyblues
I own a black Mitsubishi Lancer and it is a pain to keep clean and looking good. When it’s clean it looks great but it shows every little water spot and every streak from a bad dry job. You have to really be into car detailing to make it look good.

Black paint is very much unforgiving. It does not hide anything.
